The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or IIHS, has chosen the 2011 Kia Sportage crossover vehicle -CUV as the 2010 Top Safety Pick in the category of small crossover vehicles. The ratings were based on side, frontal, rear, and rollover-including roof strength, tests for safety in an impact crash. The rating of “Good” is the highest rating achievable and the 2011 Kia Sportage safety record proves this.

Ratings from the Institute are based on results from frontal, side and rear impact crash tests, and for 2010 a good performance in a roof strength test – to measure protection in a rollover – also was required to win. Each vehicle’s overall evaluation was based on various measurements specific to each crash angle, and overall impact on crash test dummies inside the vehicle at the time of collision. All vehicles must have electronic stability control available to be eligible.

Kia Forte range has recently been expanded by a brand-new five-door model. The new model joins Kia Forte range as the third model after the four-door Forte sedan and popular Forte Koup model.

Kia says the all-new Forte five-door hatchabck should appeal to younger buyers and consumers with young families looking for stylish and practical compact cars.

The all-new Forte does not only bring a new body-style to the Forte range, but also introduces several styling and refinement improvements. In addition, the model also boasts some important technical improvements, which will all be also featured on the up-coming 2011 Forte Koup and Forte sedan models!

Kia Canada Inc. hits 20 months of consecutive sales while experiencing best August of all-time.

Mississauga, ON, September 1, 2010 -- Kia Canada Inc. achieved the best-ever August sales month in its eleven year history while continuing the company’s sales streak  of 20 months of year-over-year sales increases. Total sales for the month reached 5430 units, up 16.2 per cent versus August 2009. Kia Canada sales through the first 8 months of the year continues to out-pace industry with a 17.9 per cent increase in 2010. Kia Canada has sold 37,588 units through August 2010.
