Article by Stephen Maser of Raymond James

In my previous article, we took a brief look at what a RRSP is and how they work. In this continuation of last week’s conversation, it is important to expand on what was a very quick overview of this kind of retirement account. We will take a look at what some of the restrictions are as well as a closer look at what “tax-deferred growth” really means.

  1. How much can I Contribute – you are limited to 18% of your previous years “earned income”, subject to a dollar limit plus any unused room. The contribution limits are as follows:

2007 - $19,000

2008 - $20,000

2009 - $21,000

2010 - $22,000

Simply put, if in 2008, you made $150,000 and had $20,000 in contribution room

that was carried over from previous years you could contribute $40,000.

After 2010, contribution limits will be indexed. You can confirm your limit by looking at your Notice of Assessment.

Written by himi on August 7th, 2010 at www.kia-world.net - Submitted by Dan at Metro Kia.

American automotive data provider ALG has declared that 2011 Kia Sportage  has the highest residual value rating in the compact CUV section. The outstanding rating of 61-percent of original MSRP for 3 years of ownership has made 2011 Kia Sportage stand in the league of BMW and Subaru.

The 2011 Kia Sportage Residual Value is 20 point more than 2010 model, which is remarkable leap in the automotive industry. This compact utility vehicle has created a benchmark in the history of Kia Motors by attaining the highest residual value rating the company has ever received for any vehicle from ALG.

The high Residual Value Rating from ALG of new Kia Sportage have definitely added to the brand value of Kia Motors and will probably increase demand for the vehicle. Apart from the Kia Sportage Residual Value, the new 2011 model has a first-rate design and is equipped with the latest technology.

The Cracked Peppercorn is so proud to able to provide Healthy, Hot and Yummy meals to the students at Connaught Elementary. We would love to expand the program to more schools in Medicine Hat. Please see the attached menu for this Fall for the students at Connaught. We deliver to the school each day at no extra charge. You can have a Hot, Nutritious lunch delivered to your child for only $5.00 per day or $22.50, if you order for the whole 5 day week. We will rotate this menu for the children. Please call your school and let them know this is a valuable program to have.

Thanks for your support. As parents ourselves, we understand the importance of a hot meal on a cold Alberta Day, we also remember what a nuisance making lunches every night was.  Let us do it for you.

Sincerely,
Amy and Nevin Berning

Article by Stephen Maser of Raymond James

RRSP stands for Registered Retirement Savings Plan and there are a lot of misconceptions surrounding this type account and how they work.  In this article I will explain how exactly they help Canadians in retirement planning, how they use deferral of taxes on the growth of your investments and what they should not be used for.

Opinions of RRSP accounts can differ greatly depending on who you ask.  Some investors will say that they are a terrible way to save and some believe that the money you take out of them is tax free.  Before opening a RRSP it is important to have a basic understanding of what they are and the proper use of them.

Article by Stephen Maser of Raymond James

The primary concern I hear from people is the need for financial advice and where to find it. There are many places to find an opinion, from the internet, TV, magazines and newspapers, however trying to sift through that maze of information can be overwhelming. You need to find answers to your financial needs and that first step should be a financial advisor.

While all the outlets mentioned can vary in the quality of their advice, the advice given could be damaging if you’re unsure what financial planning entails. Here are some quick ideas to find a professional to help you with planning your financial future:
