Medicine Hat’s three-year budget plan passed in City Council on Tuesday night without amendments but included a lengthy discussion about future planning of fire protection in the city’s expanding reaches.

On a night when City Council approved asking for bids to design and build the long-controversial Regional Event Centre most of the public discussion revolved around possible locations for a fire station that wasn’t even in the city budget plan that passed earlier in the evening.

The man was released from custody under court imposed conditions following a bail hearing Tuesday morning. Those conditions include he have no contact with youth under 16 not accompanied by their parent or guardian - with the exception of his children - and no contact with the female youth complainant.
